A teenager does without question need more sleep because biologicaly they are growing at the same rate as toddlers do -and we unconditionally accept a toddlers sleep patterns as parents. They ( the teen- ager) also are undergoing the biggest hormonal changes that ever happen (hard to believe for all of us adults out there- especially women- but true). Therefore if there are any adults who could run around madly, grow like a toddler and take on board all the ups and downs that hormones throw at you on a 24/7 basis and say that they would not like to sleep 12 hrs a day too - I think you fib!! however young people obviouslyl want to experience life to the full so feel the need to make every day count and over do things and rebel at every oportunity!! even if that is only 3 hrs a day after homework -or 24/7 at weekends with Grandparents- thank God for that!! You sound like the perfect grandparents to me - but be careful as they may decide to leave home and live with you in the near future... the grass is always greener!!

In Spain they pop a grape into their mouths on each stike of the clock aproaching midnight -ie hopefully finishing with 12 grapes stuffed in by the 12th strike - this is I believe supposed to bring good luck - but I guess choking to death may also be a possibility!

I think it can still be fun - depending on the mix of people involved, and is definately a great leveler between generations. With older people getting younger by the decade(and young people getting older) there is a large amount of books, films and even plays that everyone is aware of and, regardless of the subject matter, it is always amusing to see friends and family frustratedly trying to act out silly words and chacters and to enjoy a laugh with or at them! Would agree with Parry re the Christmas plonk though - a little tipple to stimulate the hidden actor in us all never goes amiss!

I still believe that the best way to learn all aspects of driving is through experience, so if you have someone you trust that can take you as a learner on a route that would give you a chance to see first hand all the practical aspects of the test that would be a fantastic start- you can then apply the theory to memories. After that there is no alternative but to study as hard as you can. Most of the facts will actually remain with you long after any other test you have ever taken! Good Luck. x
