i think it is only because fat is not circulated with blood as well as the rest of the body, so when it its colder outside and it cools your body down, only or for the first part the "fatty parts" of your body won't get warm as fast, or just stay cold.
you will probably notice this not only on your knees, but also on your stomach(in case you are not wearing a shirt) and down on the leg where your "foot fiber" is.

another thing is that english speaking seem to have a problem with the german pronountiation.
(at least the guys in austrlaia, where i am at the moment, have this problem)

since germans learn english much earlier and we already use many of your words in the common language and in ads, it is not a big problem to get the pronountiation.

in germany you begin learning english in year 2(the age of 7-8) at the moment, its always changing so we will learn it in the kindergarden in a few years...

wich is really good :)

siasl74 is mainly right, we Germans could understand them if they are speaking slow, if not, we usually only get some words...after all we don't have any problems with reading "their language" since it is still a kind of German and they usually don't change the stems of the words.

But we still say that they don't speak German (more or less as a joke) because it doesn't sound like German at all.
