It's because he is obsessed with power for its own sake. He's only in power because people didn't stand up to him. It's their own problem, anyway. I don't know why we as a country have to act as moral crusaders all the time; let them get on with it. It's happened many times before. Much of Africa is a moral, economic and political shambles, and it always will be.

Something that wasn't carbon-friendly, because I am absolurtely sick and tired of hearing about it; and loads of completely un-pc quotes all over it.

I think, in its well-documented form - and with USSR and USA vying for world supremacy anyway - there would have eventually been a world war by 1945. Had Hitler followed a softer approach to the Jews and other apparently inferior races, and just banished them, it wouldn't have made much difference because Germany would have eventually declared war on someone. Had they delayed the war until maybe 1943 - and built up their forces and infrastructure fairly secretly, combined with an outwardly benign attitude to the other world powers - they might have had a fighting chance of winning, as mobilisation and technical advances by the other world powers would have been slower, I think.
Obviously, their farcical views of racial purity, and the extermination of millions meant the regime was doomed from the mid-30s and propelled them into a war they weren't ready for - although they did start it and could have delayed it a while longer.

Still, what do I know?
