beeper_spryte answers:

many variants on this recipe, try it and see what works for you:

150gr melted butter or oil
350gr SR Flour
2 Eggs
350ml milk
Mix all the ingredients together to form a smooth batter. It is easy to make half the mixture for smaller families.

Basically it is the same as Yorkshire Pudding dough.

This the American way (go to "About.com" - and then key in waffles in the search box)

If you have an updated Flash Player you can watch a video guide to making sweet waffles here. The site also gives you such delights as recipes for Pecan Waffles, Chocolate Chip Waffles, Blueberry Waffles....drool, drool!

Basic American Waffles (This recipe received a 5 out 5 rating from site users, predominantly Americans who know their waffles).

Basic Waffles Recipe. NOTE: A US Cup = 250 ml that is the same as a large pub wine glass.

2 cups sifted flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups milk
5 tablespoons melted shortening

Mix and sift dry ingredients. Combine beaten egg yolks, milk and shortening; add to dry ingredients, beating until smooth. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour batter into each section of a hot waffle iron.

This makes enough for six people.

Closer to home, Belgian Waffles:

Light and Crispy Belgium Waffles

Cooking Instructions:

Preheat waffle maker. Put all ingredients, except egg whites, in a large mixer bowl.

Beat on low until moistened. Increase to medium, mix until smooth.

By hand, gently fold in beaten egg whites. Pour 1/2 cup (125 ml) batter over grids. Close waffle maker, bake until steam no longer escapes, about 3-5 minutes. Repeat. Serve while hot with your favourite topping.

Yield: 8 Belgium waffles
