When was radio mos popular
In terms of listeners.
asked in music, radio

jacquesdor answers:

probably during the war, people were anxious to get news and information and - as far as I see it - were glued to their radios most of the time. Also there were very popular entertainment programmes which everone tuned into.
Newspapers were contracted to one or two pages due to paper shortage and people were unable to go out easily for fear of bombing raids, so there was little else except the radio.

Good answer, that is exactly what I was going to say, during ww2 definately. There wasnt really any other way to keep up to date with what was going on! Although it was all propaganda anyway!

But I would also say during the 60s and 70s when music started to become really popular. Not everyone could afford a TV in those days and used to keep up to date with music by listening to the radio regularly!
