Any Ideas on how to stop my cats climbing my christmas tree?
Okay last year wasn't too bad Genie didn't climb my tree, she just got all the baubles off it instead :)

But Flash insists on climbing up it, she's the only one who does it, Tiger and Genie don't.

She loves to just sit halfway up the tree and chill out
asked in cats, christmas, help

beeper_spryte answers:

citrus spray, olbas oil, and if they don't work then the rolled up newspaper lapped against your hand for the noise effect. put some bells and jangly things at the bottom of the tree, if they learn to link those going off with trouble, they *might* learn not to do it again. depends how old they are :p

mum's only climbed the tree when they were kittens... later i think they got too lazy an were content (and still are content) with the baubles.

Maybe set it up loosely for a couple of days, so every time they climb it, it falls over?

Once they realise that it's not fun to have the tree they're climbing tip them off, you can decorate it properly.

Only a guess though as we don't have cats. If our St Bernard tries to climb the tree, all hell will break loose!

You can get Pet behaviour spray, that smells awful to cats/dogs and they will back off. its harmless to them and other things.
But there is 1 thing you cant beat, and thats water.
If you can get a water pistol or an empty washing up liquid bottle, a quick squirt at cat just as about to climb tree should stop her, more so if you keep it after a couple of shots at her, at the tree, she will soon to learn that the bottle and her do not mix in with climbing the tree. ;0)
OIf you gto a cat who does like water, go for pet behaviour spray or pepper. best of luck.

Make small cat-sized booties. Attach firmly to cats paws, then nail booties to the floor. I have lots of small pieces of leather if you would like some.
