toast vs smoke alarm Q2: does the dial on a toaster cut down on the heat, or the length of time bread spends in the toaster?

length of time, i like mine just short of charcoaled so it take longer for my toast to cook then everyone elses.

What's more, if someone doesn't stop altering it on my toaster I shall have a blue fit. The bread's in there for such a small time that it barely gets warm... I don't like it burnt, but I do like it to have a tan.

Old toasters used to have thermostats but today they have electronic timers.
