Supplement from 12/12/2008 02:27pm:
it's just a simple infection. thanks all.

asked in child health issues, medical, urine

Messerwisser answers:

The colour can change from white to dark yellow depending of food, physical exercise and amount of fluid taken in. For the same reason even the odour can vary.
If you are worried you know where to ask.

With the usual caveats about not being able to give medical advice on the site.

When you say white, do you mean actually white, or do you mean clear?

Clear just means that there are very few waste products being flushed out in the urine and as long as they have been drinking a decent amount of fluids, this should be no problems.

White may well be an issue worthy of a call to NHS direct.

Leohuberh answers:

Many white blood cells in the urine represent a probable urinary tract infection,...

Sometimes, when the urine contains white blood cells or protein, or the test results seem abnormal for another reason, it's because of how or when the urine was collected. For example, a dehydrated child may have a few white blood cells or a small amount of protein in the urine.
