How useful are scatter and line graphs in showing scientific data?

asked in Science, Mathematics, Graphs

seacommander answers:

Line and scatter graphs are especially useful in being able to show in a very obvious way the relationships between variables. Scatter graphs have the added advantage that they also depict very clearly the variation that can occur between variables yet still demonstrate that overall there is a clear relationship.
