i watched the movie " airport" today. was it usual for a dr on a crashing plane to order brandy to be given to passengers?
surley this is against every medical rule in the book?
asked in movies, medical, air crash

vultan answers:

I don't think there have been many situations where a doctor has been treating patients on a crashing plane, so it's difficult to say what's 'usual' in those circumstances. Brandy probably calms the nerves a little, so I guess it's not a terrible thing to give them.

But then again, as a more sensible answer. It's not a good idea, as the chances of dying from the onset of shock would go up with the alcohol intake.

But, I truly believe they only tell you where the life vests are because they know it's easier to recover bodies at sea which are wearing them!

That reminds me, did you hear the one about the Air Jamaica flight and the black box?!
