Does Venus dense atmosphere burn up smaller meteorites before they hit the surface ?
It is sure they are slowed down by carbon dioxide smog.
asked in Meteorites, Venus

Messerwisser answers:

Burning is maybe not the right word as there is no oxygen in the Venus atmosphere. Most meteorites entering the Earth atmosphere are not burnt up, but gasified by the friction heat. That is probably done more effectively in the Venus atmosphere.
