Who was the first film star to do full frontal nudity?
In a film that is, most people have been fully nude at some point in their lives.

And I mean a *real* film star, not a p.o.r.n star. And I want verfifiable sightings only, not urban myths about Joan Crawford's early work.
asked in film, nudity, star

Think Glenda Jackson was in it as well, but dont quote me on that.
Think the title went alone the lines of For a few men, not sure.

oops the film was called Women in love. And it was the very 1st for the film stars to do the full frontal scene. get you the link min.

Yet, the first notable big-screen example of grown men tackling each other while showing their tackle occurred when Oliver Reed and Alan Bates energetically wrestled each other in director Ken Russell's erotic but high-minded 1969 adaptation of the D.H. Lawrence novel Women in Love. Not that all of the world's film fans got to enjoy it. According to Russell, censors in Argentina removed the nude material, which meant that the film cut from a shot of Bates and Reed fully clothed to a post-fight view of them exhausted in each other's arms. As a result of this misguided snipping, the sequence became known locally as the ''great buggery scene.''

not sure if they were the very 1st actors, maybe hollwood had them.

Couldnt find anything re filmstars doing a full frontal, but i googled Oliver Reed, and it does seem to be the movie that shown full frontal nudity. America is very strict re nudity in films, why there was an outcry when err Justin Timberlake tore Janet jacksons front and exposed her breast.
here you go.

His wrestling scene with Alan Bates in Women in Love (1969) was the first time full frontal male nudity had featured in a mainstream movie.

Im sure there were plenty of ..ahem...'art and nature' films that passed way under the censors radar. As soon as some bozo worked out how to use a motion picture camera it was 'play time',

Actors sensuosly flaunting their licentious and dissolute bodies at each other is disgraceful and if anyone thinks differently they can come to my study for a good spanking followed by a lesson in moral and physical fortitude (involving baby oil). Its enough to make you scream!

Vultan, I think it had to be Lassie, in the original Lassie film.

She wore no clothing or costume anywhere during the film. However, that provided no big Bohemian wallop for any of the viewers.

Shortly thereafter, a beautiful white horse did the same thing -- appearing unclothed throughout the film My Friend Flicka.

Both went on to make additional pictures, such as Lassie Come Home and Thunderhead, Son of Flicka.

Audrey Munson appeared in Inspiration, a silent film released in 1915, and believed to be the first American film to feature nudity by a leading actor.

In 1916, probably as a result of her exposure in California at the PPIE, Munson moved to California and entered the movies. In all Munson starred in four silent films. The first of these, Inspiration, the story of a sculptor’s model, featured the first time that a woman appeared fully nude on film. The censors were reluctant to ban the film, fearing they would also have to ban Renaissance art. The films were a box office success. The reviews, however, were very polarized. Only a single print of one film, Purity, has survived.

Little more history of nudity in film:
Several early films of the silent era and early sound era included nude scenes, presented in a historical or religious context. Cecil B. DeMille, whose later reputation was that of a family entertainment specialist, included several nude scenes in his early epics. Other filmmakers followed suit. Harry Lachman's Dante's Inferno featured many naked women suffering in the bowels of hell. The early Tarzan films with Johnny Weismuller featured at least partial nudity justified by the natural surroundings in which the characters lived. Nudity of natives was also portrayed in jungle epics.

In response to objections voiced by several groups – and at least partly due to the notorious 1933 Czech film Ecstasy, which featured a nude scene by Hedy Lamarr – scenes of nudity were forbidden in films from the major American studios from 1934 until the late 1960s under the Motion Picture Production Code, also known as the Hays Code. During this time, the only acceptable cinematic displays of nudity in the U.S. were in naturist quasi-documentary films and in foreign films. Other portrayals were in early pornographic films which, due to limited means of distribution, were not widely seen.
