specific performance is a remedy which equitable in nature as the common law would generally only give restorative damages. The limitation would only be the delay in taking action could be a bar to specific performance although out of contract the limitation is 6 years whether or not you could get this equitable remedy would depend on the circumstances ie how unique this piece of land is, if its just a plot you could get anywhere then not likely.
