Explain and justify the selection of standard deviation, mean, median, mode and range in analyzing raw data?
I carried out a colorimeter experiment that was on analyzing a sample of river water for contamination. Each student took 2 samples of the river water and measured the absorbance at a specific wavelength.
Then I had to analyze the raw data that I gained by calculating the standard deviation, mean, median, mode and range of it.

The relevance is that it gives you data on the distribution characteristics of the data. If the standard distribution is very low, then you have a fairly uniform set of samples.

Why they're appropriate - as above - those statistics help you infer various things about the data.
