My mum had a skin cancer scare and she was told for men it was common to get skin cancer on the ears as no one ever considers putting on sun screen there.

She has short hair and her scare involved her ear but he said it was more common on womens chest.

seacommander answers:

There appears to be no gender related factor in skin cancer. The most dangerous form of skin cancer - primary cutaneous melanoma - will be more prevalent on skin excessively exposed to strong ultraviolet light. Some people also have a genetic susceptibility to the cancer and there is also a hereditary factor involved in some cases.
