Do you have food and drink in front of your PC ?
I don't suffer from thirst. I enjoy every minute of it.

My keyboard is safely tucked away on a sliding board that goes underneath the glass top of my computer table.

Yes, in the evening I have a glass of Champagne beside it. And I eat sandwiches and biscuits whilst using it.

So far I've ruined one laptop completely and just had to have a new keyboard on another because I've spilled my drink on it.

The man who replaced the keyboard said there were more crumbs under it than he'd got in his sandwaiches.

Supplement from 01/31/2009 11:09am:

He actually said, in his sandwiches!

Messerwisser answers:

Never. I see no reason for it, and I don't suffer.

My neighbour Ian who is a top computer engineer regually fixes my rig for me for free - he says that the amount of Bourbon Biscuit crumbs he gets out of my keyboard is payment enough!

Drinks and sometimes even coffee I always keep well clear of the computer though.

Bad experiences have taught me to keep drinks handily within reach for a quaff or a slurp - but I keep drinks always well BELOW the level of the computer so any knocked-over glasses of Pino More don't get into all the complicated expensive sensitive bits. It's P-K's Golden Rule of Survival Number 14.

Never eat in front of the PC, although I will frequently drink coffee or tea whilst there.

I never put drinks on top of the base unit, my daughter did that once, nearly fried herself along with the monitor.

Both, often - where I live and at work. Occasionaly just have to shake the crumbs out of the keyboard. For the first time ever though, I spilt coffee over the keyboard at work - luckily it all still worked OK after pouring it out!!

Yes. But I'm on the verge of banning my partner from doing so.

I'm fed up with coffee spillages and rings all over her PC, and dinner plates piled up all around it.

Yes, very often. However, no matter which of my computers has food or drink placed in front of it, the machine always refuses to imbibe or ingest it.

Ungrateful artifacts!

Oh, wait, maybe you mean food or drink for myself. Well, again, yes. I often have lunch or dinner while sitting before my machines. Fortunately, to this point, very few crumbs on the keyboards, and never yet spilled a drink on it.

This is called multi-tasking. I accomplish nourishment and learning/communicating simulataneously -- all of which are great pleasures, for me.
