Seven men fell into a coma and are paralysed after eating unlicenced Blowfish testicles in Japan....
Why do they do it?

Would you eat Blowfish testicles (whether licenced or not)?

What is the strangest food you have eaten?

Eating blowfish is like a test of your manhood - in this country, that tends to involve drinking more pints than your mates without passing out, or (an old favourite from my childhood street), getting your mates to drive their car at you and see who is least 'chicken' by jumping out of the way at the last moment. Bless the poor fool who won - he spent a month in hospital with his leg in a metal frame as he'd shatted the bone so badly.

I don't believe in proving manhood by taking risks - I love thrills like climbing and doing high-ropes courses, but do I need to actually risk my life for that? No! I've a wife and daughter who depend on me - it is more manly to live a life that means you can continue to love and support your family as long as possible.

As to bizarre things I have eaten, I'm a bit squeamish so don't like any food that 'squidges' - so mushrooms and most shellfish are out. I guess rabbit is as far as I have been, which is pretty tame (the idea, not the rabbit itself). Or gizzards, which were vile.

They do it to be part of an elite. Japanese men are almost suicidal in lots of their 'sporting' activities : that's why Japanese television is so entertaining.

The strangest thing I've ever eaten was a chocolate mint block sandwich. Unusual taste / texture combination but not dangerous.

To demonstrate their lack of fear. It's probably the same psychology that drove the kamakazi pilots.
Knowing what the testicles might do I certainly wouldn't eat them.
Many many years ago whilst in France my parents and I were selecting our meal from a menu - very little of which we understood - and were taking pot luck more or less. We knew the starter was something to do with sheep but little did we know that it would turn out to be whole brains!! They tasted very nice and were supremely tender.

Machismo testes - sorry tests!

Grubs, ants, worms, small birds, rabbit, hedgehog and assorted plants not normally eaten! - I've eaten a few nasty things, not by choice more out of neccessity or I would fail the challenge...

If it were not for men this planet would be a lot safer for little creatures!!!

I don't think I could knowingly eat the testicles of any creature.
And I don't eat fish.

So the answer to your first part is no, I couldn't eat blowfish testicles.

The strangest food I've ever eaten is probably Witchetty soup - made from real Witchetty grubs.

Failing that, probably chocolate.
Some of the processes it undergoes in manufacture are most odd.
Still yummy though.

I thought this was a riddle when I read it!

British sausages a few years ago were full of pretty gruesome stuff.
