Who, apart from current political leaders, would you like to see as the next Prime Minister of the UK?

Supplement from 02/16/2009 01:41pm:
I have heard rumours that Jeremy Clarkson would be a popular candidate.

asked in politics

P-Kasso answers:

I would dearly like to see a politician who (for once) actually put the long-term future of this country right at the top[ of the agenda instead of their own personal ambition and greed for power.

So no Tony Blairs or cardboard cut-outs such as Dave Cameron.

Instead that would be a politian who would be prepared to lose his or her job rather than spin-doctoring and lying and manoeuvering to keep their cosy job.

About the only person I can suggest as a candidate is Tony Benn.

Supplement from 02/16/2009 02:02pm:

Of non-politicians, I'd choose someone like David Attenborough rather than Jereemy Clarkson.

Clarkson is too loud-mouthed, too full of himself and full of rant and hot air.

Just like the present crop of politicians!

I'd go for someone more thoughtful, with a big world-view and a lot of modesty.

Hence David Attenborough.

There are a few people. Len Goodman would be a good start - always sees the best in everyone. Then there's that mad comedienne, Jenny Eclair (does she remind anyone else of Peggy Ollerenshaw from Hi-de-hi?), who I think would be quite good.

Failing that, David Attenborough - he's a bloke you can trust!

Clement Freud - he's another one that I would laugh about!

Russel.West answers:

Jonh Sergeant - I think he would sack a few political people just on the basis of knowing what their backgrounds are and the skeletons in their closets!

Supplement from 02/16/2009 01:58pm:

Clarkson for PM, Stig for minister of roads - that'll get them moving, Hammond the Hampster as MP with health and safety as his portfolio, and the other one on the show incharge of school crossing - a mass bridgebuilding scheme would happen me thinks - speed limits would be as fast as you can go without crashing, end to all speed cameras, all speeding fines from them to be paid back.... life could be good if President Jeremy Clarkson were to rule!!!

wumpus answers:

Me.

Failing that, I'd go with somebody like Clarkson.

I accept that he isn't everybody's cup of tea, but his style is unique in these days.

He's not so concerned about being PC, cuts straight through the BS and gets right to the bits that matter.
